This congress will also feature the award ceremony, where the winning local government will receive a prize package of €20.000 to strengthen its initiative or facilitate exchange with other local governments.

If you want to join this online event, keep an eye on this page as we provide more updates and the link to the live stream. After the launch, eligible local governments can start the application procedure. The deadline for applications will be the 1st of March 2022.

The UCLG Peace Prize generates international public attention for the role that local governments play in ensuring sustainable and peaceful development and is awarded once every three years during the UCLG World Congress. The prize is an initiative of the Associations of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) and is organized with support from several partners such as the Municipality of The Hague, and the Dutch National Foundation for Peace, Freedom and Veteran Care (vfonds).
