Prof. Rafael Grasa
Rafael Grasa is the President of the International Catalan Institute for Peace. He works as a Professor in International Relations at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Professor Grasa has been Vice-Rector of the University for four years and Secretary General from 2002 to 2009. In addition, he is co-coordinator of the Master in International Relations, Security and Development.
In his research, Professor Grasa focuses on the resolution and transformation of conflict, non-military aspects of security and human security, decentralized governance and prevention of violent behaviour. He has published numerous books and articles on these topics.
Besides his academic work, Grasa has conducted missions in election observation, conflict resolution and assessment, and peacebuilding, in Central America, Mexico, Latin America, East- and North Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe.
